Services - Beetle Infestation
 
Many insects capable of infesting timbers. Correct diagnosis is essential to avoid inappropriate treatments. Pictured is the Wood -Boring Weevil (Pentarthrum huttoni). No insecticidal treatment is needed to control this pest.   These emergence holes are characteristic of wood boring beetles but which one? In this case careful analysis of frass and timber confirmed Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) was responsible.

A sample which caused considerable alarm for the property owner. Was this a serious case of Termite Infestation? After detailed investigation of the damage, the insects and the frass an attack of Carpenter Ants (Camponotus herculeanus) was found responsible.   A severe attack of beetle infestation by Death watch beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum) found in a historic building. Care was needed to design a treatment sympathetic to the building but cognizant of controlling the infestation.
