Case Histories - Still Wet after Treatment

A 'damp patch' after extensive damp-proofing works was identified as a thick coat of Vermiculite plaster. Typically used for filling voids and to dub out uneven surfaces this was entirely the wrong specification and absorbed moisture from the wall. The remedy was removal and replacement.   A similar scenario to Image 1, here the 'soft' plaster has been applied to a reveal over an initial sand and cement layer. An inappropriate specification which will not dry out!
Need help and advice?
Having spent a lot of money on renovating a series of vaults the client was surprised to find water ingress. The source was traced to the coal chutes which had not been effectively plugged during the remedial works.   Part waterproofing works are seldom effective in the long term. This image shows a cavity-membrane system with no drainage, no wall/floor junction and part completion. As you can see water was able to flood the basement during rainfall.
